Glossybox Germany June 2012

I vowed not to subscribe to Glossybox after my move to Germany. I'd been watching Youtube videos on them when I was still in the UK and was shocked to see that they were consistently, well.... crap. And then Glossybox put the price up from 10€ to 15€ and I told myself there was no way I'd be wasting my money on another box.
Eventually I just couldn't bear it. You see, I love surprises and I love getting parcels and opening boxes. Beauty boxes were pretty much created for me. I missed the anticipation of getting a box full of pretty surprises every month, so eventually I just caved again. In the end, I used to pay £12.95 without even batting an eyelid, so 15€ isn't that much come to think of it (and you don't have to pay for p&p).
Naturally, I wasn't home when the parcel arrived, but I was able to pick it up after work and ripped it open all excitedly!

Ich hatte geschworen, nach meinem Umzug nach Deutschland keine Glossyboxen mehr zu abonnieren. Als ich noch in GB war, habe ich mir nämlich Videos auf Youtube angeschaut und war schockiert, als ich sah, dass die Boxen durchgängig, nun ja... beschissen waren. Dann haben Glossybox auch noch den Preis erhöht von 10€ auf 15€ und ich sagte mir, dass ich auf keinen Fall mein Geld für eine weitere Box verschwenden würde.
Irgendwann hielt ich es dann nicht mehr aus. Die Sache ist die: Ich liebe Überraschungen und Post kriegen und Kartons öffnen. Beautyboxen wurden praktisch für mich persönlich geschaffen. Ich vermisste die Vorfreude auf eine monatliche Box voller hübscher Überraschungen und schließlich gab ich wieder nach. Schließlich habe ich früher £12.95 ausgegeben, ohne auch nur mit der Wimper zu zucken, also ist 15€ im Vergleich dann doch nicht so schlecht (und für den Versand bezahlt man eh nichts).
Natürlich war ich nicht daheim, als das Paket ankam, aber ich konnte es mir nach der Arbeit von meiner Packstation abholen und riss es schon ganz aufgeregt auf!

The box wasn't the typical pale pink one, but rather the kind of rough, natural box that people in the UK got for April. The theme however, was "summer and sea", so I'm not entirely sure where the choice of box material came from. Maybe the grand Glossybox headquarters had loads of these left and just wanted to get rid of them. It also came with a Glossymag themed the Wet-Look Edition, which is a nice addition and I'll happily read it during a long, warm bubble bath. And here's what I found inside:

Die Box war nicht typisch hellrose, sondern aus einem rauen Naturmaterial, das es in GB schon im April gab. Das Thema war allerdings "Sommer und Meer", also bin ich nicht ganz sicher, warum gerade dieses Verpackungsmaterial gewählt wurde. Vielleicht hatte die große Glossybox-Zentrale ja noch ganz viele dieser Boxen übrig und wollte sie loswerden. Es gab auch ein Glossymag mit dem Thema "The Wet-Look Edition", was ich als Zusatz ganz nett finde und gerne zu einem langen entspannenden Bad mit in die Wanne nehme. Folgendes fand ich im Inneren:

Before I received the box, I'd made three wishes to the Glossybox-fairy:
1) Please no shower gel.
2) Please no anti-wrinkle cream.
3) Please a hand cream, because I'm running out and I can't be bothered to buy a new one.
Out of those three, one came true (no.1), so I guess that's better than nothing. I don't know if it's because I haven't had a box for so long or because this one is genuinely good, but I was pretty excited about the contents! Mind you, I haven't seen what other people got in theirs, so I can't compare and tell whether I got a particularly good one or a relative dud.
Here's a quick run-through of what I got:

Bevor ich die Box erhielt, hatte ich drei Wünsche an die Glossybox-Fee gemacht:
1) Bitte kein Duschgel
2) Bitte keine Anti-Falten-Creme
3) Bitte eine Handcreme, denn meine wird leer und ich habe keine Lust, mir eine neue zu kaufen.
Von den drei Wünschen ist einer wahr geworden (Nr. 1), also besser als gar nichts. Ich weiß nicht, ob es daran liegt, dass ich so lange keine Box mehr hatte, oder dass diese tatsächlich gut ist, aber ich habe mich sehr über den Inhalt gefreut! Ich muss dazu aber sagen, dass ich mir keine anderen Reviews angeschaut habe, also kann ich sie nicht vergleichen und weiß nicht, ob ich eine besonders tolle Box hatte oder eine relative Niete.
Hier eine kurze Auflistung der Dinge, die ich erhielt: 

1) Alessandro Nail Polish in Peppermint Patty, 5ml (Original size: 9.95€ / 10ml)
This is a mini nail polish, but it counts as a full product for me, as I've only ever finished a bottle of nail varnish once. The colour is beautiful and summery, a pale pastel blue/green. Alessandro is omnipresent in this country, but I've only ever bought one of their nail files (which was rubbish), so I'm excited to try one of their nail polishes. It also got the similar sounding Lady Gaga song stuck in my head.

1) Alessandro Nagellack in Peppermint Patty, 5ml (Originalgröße: 9.95€ / 10ml)
Das hier ist eine Mininagellack, doch für mich zählt das wie eine Originalgröße, denn ich habe in meinem gesamten Leben erst einen Nagellack leer gemacht. Die Farbe ist wunderschön und sommerlich. Ein blasses Pastell-blau-grün. Alessandro ist hierzulande omnipräsent, doch ich habe mir lediglich mal eine Nagelfeile dieser Firma gekauft (die übrigens Schrott war), also freue ich mich auf einen Lack. Auch steckt jetzt der ähnlich klingende Lady Gaga Song in meinem Kopf fest. 

2) C:EHKO Intensive Care Mask, 50ml (Original size: 15€ / 200ml)
Never heard of this brand before, but the packaging looks like it should be way more expensive than its 15€ price tag. It has this lovely salon smell some hair care products have, but as I'm currently trialling so many other hair products it will probably be a while until I get around to trying this one.

2) C:EHKO Intensive Care Mask, 50ml (Originalgröße: 15€ / 200ml)
Ich hab noch nie von dieser Firma gehört, doch die Verpackung weckt den Anschein, dass es eigentlich teurer sein müsste als 15€. Die Haarmaske hat einen angenehmen Frisörsalon-Geruch. Da ich aber momentan sehr viele Haarprodukte teste, wird es wohl etwas dauern, bis ich mich an diese Probe wage. 

3) Eubos Hyaluron Repair & Protect LSF 20, no volume information, I'd guess about 5ml (Original size: 24,90€ / 50ml)
I'd briefly seen Eubos before, but never paid much attention - I think they're a pharmacy brand? Anyway, it seems like the Glossybox-fairy didn't quite catch one of my wishes. I keep getting anti-ageing skincare in my Glossyboxes despite clearly stating my age and skin type on my beauty profile and that does annoy me a little bit. However, some of those products have turned out to be really good and as this one's made for sensitive skin I'm hoping it won't block my pores and cause me to break out. Plus, it's got an SPF, so I'll happily give it a try.

3) Eubos Hyaluron Repair & Protect LSF 20, keine Volumenangabe, ich schätze mal 5ml (Originalgröße: 24,90€ / 50ml)
Ich hatte Eubos kurz mal irgendwo gesehen, doch ich nahm nicht besonders viel Notiz. Ich glaube es handelt sich um eine Apothekenmarke? Es scheint, als hätte die Glossybox-Fee nicht alle meine Wünsche gehört, denn andauernd kriege ich Anti-Ageing-Produkte und das obwohl mein Beauty-Profil ganz klar mein Alter und meinen Hauttyp angibt. Das nervt schon ein wenig. Dennoch waren einige dieser Produkte im Endeffekt sehr gut und da diese Creme für sensible Haut gemacht ist, hoffe ich mal, dass sie meine Poren nicht verstopfen wird. Außerdem hat sie einen LSF, also probiere ich sie gerne aus. 

4) Kryolan Satin Powder, 3g - Full sized product retailing at 5,95€
This is by far the star product of my box. I'd been dying to try something from Kryolan for ages and now I finally got the chance. The colour I got is SP 555, a stunning pinky nude which is made just that little bit extra special with a gorgeous rose-gold shimmer throughout. I am a little bit worried about the fact that it's a loose eyeshadow, as I don't do well around things that could potentially cause a gigantic mess. But I'm willing to see past that for now.

4) Kryolan Satin Powder, 3g - Originalprodukt, kostet 5,95€
Dies ist das Produkt, das für mich am meisten hervorsticht. Ich wollte schon ewig einmal etwas von Kryolan probieren und jetzt habe ich endlich Gelegenheit dazu. Die Farbe in meiner Box war SP 555, ein bezauberndes pinkes Nude, das durch reichlich roségoldenen Schimmer ein gewisses Etwas erhält. Ich mache mir ein wenig Sorgen darum, dass es ein loser Lidschatten ist, denn ich bin ein wenig gefährlich bei Sachen, die das Potenzial haben, eine Menge Unordnung zu stiften. Für den Moment schaue ich darüber aber gerne hinweg. 

5) Tiroler Nussöl (sun oil) SPF 6, 30ml (Original size: 17,90€ / 150ml)
This one I'm the least excited about. It's a sun oil with an SPF 6, which is ridiculously low, so I don't know where on earth I'm going to use it - unless we continue to get about 5 minutes of sunshine per day throughout the rest of summer. I'd heard of the brand before, but never even considered buying it. The packaging reminds me of some nasty herbal liqueur and that's exactly what it smells like. I'll try and maybe use it on a weekend, but I doubt I'll get much out of it.

5) Tiroler Nussöl Sonnenöl LSF 6, 30ml (Originalgröße: 17,90€ / 150ml)
Über dieses Produkt bin ich weniger begeistert. Der LSF beträgt 6 und das ist so gering, dass es fast albern ist. Ich habe demnach keine Ahnung, wo ich es jemals zum Einsatz bringen werde - außer wir kriegen auch für den Rest des Sommers nur 5 Minuten Sonne am Tag. Ich hatte von der Marke schon gehört, aber nie daran gedacht, mir etwas von ihr zu kaufen. Die Verpackung erinnert an irgendeinen ekligen Kräuterlikör und genauso riecht das Öl auch. Ich versuche es mal an einem Wochenende zu benutzen, aber ich bezweifle, dass es besonders praktisch sein wird. 

6) Glossybox bag
I admit it sounds a bit ridiculous that I got excited over this, but only last week I realised that I really need a re-usable shopping bag, but the only one I had was with a big fat advert for orthopaedic supplies on it. The dilemma now was: Run around advertising orthopaedic supplies or spend money on a new one (which seemed like a waste). Thanks to this, my problem is now solved. It's not the prettiest of bags, but it's functional and I know I'll use it. The only negative is that it was placed on top of the tissue paper, but underneath the paper shreds and therefore it was covered in little paper bits which took forever to get off.

6) Glossybox Jutebeutel
Ich gebe zu, es ist ein bisschen albern, dass ich mich hierüber freue, aber erst letzte Woche fiel mir auf, dass ich eine wiederverwendbare Einkaufstüte brauche. Die einzige, die ich aber besitze, ist mit einer riesigen Werbung für ein Geschäft mit orthopädischem Zubehör bedruckt. Das Dilemma war jetzt: Mit Werbung für orthopädisches Zubehör herumlaufen, oder Geld für eine neue Tüte verschwenden? Jetzt ist mein Problem gelöst. Es ist nicht der hübscheste Beutel der Welt, aber er is praktisch und ich weiß, dass ich ihn benutzen werde. Das einzig Negative ist, dass er über dem Seidenpapier und unter den Papierfetzen eingepackt war, und somit musste ich ewig Papierflusen vom Beutel pulen. 


The total value of this box is 20,75€ and now that I've made my calculations I'm a bit underwhelmed. Yeah, I got my money's worth, but only just about. None of the samples were particularly "luxurious", though on the other hand I will be able to use every single one of them, even the smelly sun oil (or at least I'll try) - and that's actually better than getting a sample of an amazing moisturiser which I'll never be able to afford (I'm looking at you, Harrods Glossybox!).

Insgesamt beträgt der Wert dieser Box 20,75€ und jetzt, da ich mir das einmal ausgerechnet habe, bin ich schon ein wenig enttäuscht. Zwar liegt der Wert höher als der Preis, aber nur gerade so. Keine der Proben war besonders luxuriös. Andererseits werde ich alle Produkte verwenden können, sogar das miefende Sonnenöl (jedenfalls werde ich es versuchen) und eigentlich ist das ja besser, als eine Probe von einer unglaublichen Creme zu bekommen, die ich mir nie im Leben werde leisten können. (Ja, ich denke an dich, Harrods Glossybox!)

Bioderma Créaline H2O - Worth the hype?

Here's what Blogger hypes do to you: When I was passing through France about two months ago and stopped by a supermarket I didn't run in to grab any wine, delicious pastries or cheese (even though I am a huge fan of all of those, particularly the pastries). Nope, I headed straight to the Pharmacie, as the only thing I could think of was that I desperately needed to get myself "a bottle of Bioderma". Imagine how excited I was when I saw there were double packs on offer!

Hier ist, was Blogger-Hypes mit einem anstellen können: Als ich vor etwa zwei Monaten durch Frankreich fuhr und kurz bei einem Supermarkt anhielt, ging ich nicht etwa Wein, köstliche Kuchen oder Käse kaufen (obwohl ich all diese Dinge sehr gerne mag, vor allem die Kuchen). Nein, ich bin direkt in die Pharmacie gelaufen, denn das Einzige, woran ich denken konnte, war, dass ich mir unbedingt "eine Flasche Bioderma" kaufen musste. Stellt euch jetzt meine Freude vor, als ich sah, dass es sie im Sonderangebot im Doppelpack gab!

 

Naturally, my expectations were ridiculously high when I finally got to use this. There's not much to say about the packaging: plastic bottles that do what they're supposed to. They're a bit on the large side, so if you want to take this travelling I'd recommend filling a bit into a smaller bottle to avoid lugging a whole one of these around.

Natürlich waren meine Erwartungen astronomisch, als ich es endlich ausprobierte. Zum Thema Verpackung kann ich nicht viel sagen: Plastikflaschen, die ihren Sinn und Zweck erfüllen. Sie sind ein bisschen groß, also würde ich schon empfehlen, sich vor dem Verreisen etwas in eine kleinere Flasche abzufüllen, um nicht so viel herumzuschleppen.

 

The first time I used this I kind of expected it to magically melt off all of my make-up within seconds. And then I realised it didn't and became disappointed. It was only after while that it occurred to me that maybe I should rethink my expectations. So far I'd been using Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, which took a fair time, but also meant there was no need for a separate make-up remover, as it could safely be used on eyes and removed every last scrap of make-up.

 Beim ersten Benutzen erwartete ich irgendwie, dass mein Make-up innerhalb von Sekunden auf magische Art und Weise von meiner Haut schmilzt. Dann merkte ich, dass das nicht geschah und war enttäuscht. Erst nach einer Weile merkte ich, dass ich wahrscheinlich mine Erwartungen etwas überdenken sollte. Bislang benutzte ich immer Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, welcher zwar etwas zeitaufwendig war, aber auch bedeutete, dass ich keinen separaten Make-up-Entferner brauchte, da er auch im Augenbereich benutzt werden konnte und jegliches Make-up restlos entfernte.

I have now found a replacement cleanser (which is amazing, I'll post about it soon, promise!), which can't be used on the eye area and seeing as I had these two gigantic bottles laying around I decided to give them another go. What I do now is soak two cotton pads with it, press them on my eyes for about 30 seconds and then wipe off my make-up. It usually takes three swipes - two over my lid and one on the lower lashline - and then all of my eye make-up is gone. Afterwards, there is no stinging or oily residue.

Ich habe jetzt einen Ersatz-Cleanser gefunden (der unglaublich gut ist, ich stelle ihn euch bald vor, versprochen!), der aber nicht im Augenbereich benutzt werden kann und da ich diese zwei Riesenflaschen herumliegen hatte, beschloss ich, einen neuen Anlauf zu starten. Mittlerweile tränke ich zwei Wattepads mit der Flüssigkeit, presse sie etwa 30 Sekunden auf die Augen und wische dann das Make-up weg. Es braucht zumeist drei Züge - zwei auf dem Lid und einer am unteren Wimpernkranz - bis all mein Make-up weg ist. Danach gibt es keinerlei Stechen in den Augen, oder ölige Rückstände.

Is it better than Cleanse & Polish? Well, no. It's not quite as thorough and adds an extra step into my nightly skincare routine, but on the other hand I refuse to pay extortionate prices for postage and packaging every other month for the Liz Earle product. I used to live a 5 minute drive away from a John Lewis, so availability was never a problem, but now that I've moved, I'd rather use something I can get hold of easily.
Is it better than any other make-up remover I've tried? Yes. Without a doubt, and that includes drugstore and high-end removers. The good news is, Bioderma are now sold in German pharmacies, too, so now trip to France necessary for me! I've used about 10% of one bottle so far, so it's going to last me absolutely ages, as well.

Ist es besser als Cleanse & Polish? Nun... nein. Es ist nicht ganz so gründlich und ist auch ein extra Schritt in meiner abendlichen Hautpflege-Routine. Andererseits weigere ich mich auch, alle zwei Monate überirdische Summen für Verpackung und Versand zu bezahlen, um das Liz Earle Produkt zu benutzen. Früher wohnte ich fünf Fahrminuten von einem John Lewis entfernt, somit war Erhältlichkeit nie ein Problem, doch nach meinem Umzug würde ich doch lieber etwas benutzen, das ich leicht kriegen kann.
Ist es besser als andere Make-up-Entferner? Ja. Definitiv - und ich meine sowohl teure Parfümerieprodukte, als auch billige aus der Drogerie. Die gute Nachricht ist, dass Bioderma jetzt auch in deutschen Apotheken verkauft wird, also muss ich beim nächsten Mal nicht wieder nach Frankreich! Bislang habe ich etwa 10% einer Flasche benutzt, also werden die beiden Packungen ewig reichen. 

 

Is it worth the hype? Yes, and no, depending on what you're expecting. If you happen to be able to pick up a bottle, then I'd say go for it, as it's a good product that will serve you well and last for a long time. But if you don't feel like paying extra to have it imported from abroad, then don't you worry - there are good and solid alternatives available.

Ist es den Hype wert? Ja und nein - das hängt von euren Erwartungen ab. Wenn ihr zufällig an einer Flasche vorbeikommt, dann würde ich es schon empfehlen, denn es ist ein gutes Produkt, das auch eine lange Zeit reichen wird. Ich würde jetzt aber kein Extrageld dafür zahlen, es mir liefern oder importieren zu lassen. Da gibt es nämlich reichlich gute Alternativen.

NYX HD Concealer Wand Review

I like to give credit where credit is due, but I cannot for the life of me remember who was talking about this concealer that made me want to buy it. So apologies to whoever you are, but you were pretty convincing, because as soon as I ran out of concealer I went straight into the shops looking for this one and nothing else, even though I'd never tried another NYX product.

Ich gebe eigentlich immer bei Bedarf meine Quellen an, aber ich kann mich leider überhaupt nicht daran erinnern, wer über diesen Concealer gesprochen hatte und in mir die Kauflust anregte. Wer auch immer du bist, es tut mir sehr leid, aber du warst unheimlich überzeugend, denn sobald mein Concealer leer war, bin ich schnurstracks zu Douglas gelaufen, um mir genau diesen hier zu kaufen und das obwohl ich noch nie ein NYX-Produkt probiert hatte.

If, upon looking at this concealer, another one springs straight to your mind, then I don't blame you. It does as a matter of fact look a lot like the ever so popular Collection (2000) lasting perfection, which has been my favourite concealer for ages. Therefore I just can't help but compare the two and pit them against each other.

Wenn ihr beim Angucken dieses Concealers gleich an einen anderen denken müsst, dann überrascht mich das nicht. Er sieht dem wahnsinnig beliebten Collection (2000) Lasting Perfection Concealer, der lange Zeit auch mein Lieblingsconcealer war, nämlich zum Verwechseln ähnlich. Deshalb kann ich mir nicht helfen, die beiden miteinander zu vergleichen und zu schauen wie sie sich so im Duell machen.

First up, as usual, the packaging. It comes in a clear plastic tube with a doe foot applicator, which I don't find particularly useful to be honest. I tend to use the applicator directly under my eyes to make little dots, but if I want to cover up a blemish I'll pick up the product from the wand using a brush, as I just don't want bacteria to breed in the tube. Some of you may be pleased to hear that the writing on the packaging does not wear off. ;)

Zuallererst wie gewohnt die Verpackung. Er kommt in einer durchsichtigen Plastiktube mit Schaumapplikator, was ich nicht so prickelnd finde. Den Applikator benutze ich direkt nur zum Auftupfen unter meinen Augen, aber wenn ich Unreinheiten abdecken möchte, dann nehme ich die Farbe lieber erst mit einem Pinsel auf. Ich möchte einfach nicht, dass sich in der Tube eine Bakterienkolonie ansammelt. Einige von euch mögen auch froh sein zu hören, dass sich der Aufdruck auf der Verpackung nicht abreibt. ;)

The thing that I found incredibly positive from the very start is the huge array of colours this comes in. From the almost white porcelain to deep colours for very dark skin - there's even a green, yellow and purple thrown in if you want to use it as a base to counteract a certain discolouration. I've only ever seen this much choice from more expensive brands, like MAC or Bobbi Brown.

Was ich von Anfang an als sehr positiv empfand, war die große Farbauswahl. Vom fast weißen Porcelain bis hin zu tiefen Farbtönen für sehr dunkle Haut - es gibt sogar ein grün, gelb und lila für die, die damit gewisse Farbstiche eliminieren möchten. So viel Auswahl kenne ich eigentlich nur von teureren Firmen wie MAC oder Bobbi Brown.

After a little swatch session I settled on the lightest shade as usual, which is Porcelain. Turns out it wasn't the best of choices, as it's actually a tad too light for me. This is because a) It's the lightest shade of concealer I have ever, ever seen and b) I'm still failing to realise that I managed to tan and my skin is no longer the colour of salt.

Nach einer kleinen Swatch-Session entschied ich mich wie immer für die hellste Farbe, also Porcelain. Es stellt sich heraus, dass das nicht die beste Wahl war, denn sie ist im Grunde zu hell für mich. Das liegt daran, dass a) es die hellste Concealerfarbe ist, die ich je gesehen habe und b) ich immer noch nicht begreife, dass meine Haut gebräunt ist und nicht mehr die Farbe von Salz hat.

This is probably the thickest concealer I've ever tried that doesn't come in solid form. When you first apply it it doesn't seem that bad, but it quickly dries to a powdery finish. That means you've got to work fast, otherwise it's going to be a nightmare to blend out. I like using a MAC 224 to buff it in and that way it lasts pretty much all day without settling into creases or emphasising my pores.

Dies ist wahrscheinlich der deckendste Concealer, den ich je benutzt habe, der nicht fest ist. Beim Auftragen scheint er noch recht leicht, doch dann trocknet er ganz schnell und hinterlässt ein dickes, pudriges Finish. Das bedeutet, dass man schnell arbeiten muss, sonst wird aus dem Verblenden ein Albtraum. Ich benutze am liebsten einen MAC 224, um ihn einzuarbeiten und somit hält er praktisch den ganzen Tag, ohne sich in Fältchen oder Poren abzusetzen.

So, on to compare it to my all-time favourite drugstore concealer, the Collection Lasting Perfection. The great thing about the Collection one is that it's pretty much fool-proof. It blends out like a dream and there's not much you can do wrong with it. The NYX concealer is much more difficult to work with, but overall I'd say that the results are worth it if you're looking for heavier coverage (which with my dark undereye circles I definitely am!). It also lasts much longer when set properly, whereas the Collection one sometimes slid off my face during the course of the day.
I'm afraid I have to say that this is now officially my new favourite concealer. It's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a cheaper product that still delivers fairly high coverage or if you struggle to find a shade that matches your skin tone (be it very light or dark).

Nun also zum Vergleich mit meinem liebsten Drogerien-Concealer, dem Collection Lasting Perfection. Das tolle am Collection-Produkt ist, dass man mit ihm nicht viel falsch machen kann, denn er lässt sich wie ein Traum verblenden. Das Produkt von NYX ist viel schwieriger in der Handhabung, aber alles in allem würde ich schon sagen, dass die Resultate es wert sind, wenn ihr etwas mehr Deckkraft möchtet (und bei meinen dunklen Augenringen möchte ich das auf alle Fälle!). Es hält auch viel länger, wenn man es mit Puder fixiert, während der von Collection manchmal im Laufe des Tages von meinem Gesicht rutschte.
Ich fürchte, ich muss sagen, dass dies hier jetzt offiziell mein neuer Lieblingsconcealer ist. Ich würde euch raten, ihn mal anzuschauen, wenn ihr ein günstiges Produkt möchtet, dass trotzdem viel Deckkraft besitzt, oder wenn ihr Probleme habt, einen Farbton zu finden, der zu eurem Hautton (sei er nun sehr hell oder dunkel) passt.
 

The NYX Concealer wands cost £5.00 each. The ones in the UK web shop don't say HD, but the shades are identical so I'm not sure if they're the same product? Anyone got any information on this one? The US shop lists the HD wands at $5.50 each.

Got2b Rockin It Encore Fresh Dry Shampoo Review

Dry shampoo is one of those things that make me wonder how I ever managed to survive without them. It's a complete life saver when you've got a fringe which needs some perking up whereas the rest of your hair is fine. Anything that grants me an extra half hour in bed is a winner to me.
Now, I've only ever tried Batiste (and a pharmacy brand in my early teens, but we shall never speak of that incident again). It worked fine, it was cheap, so I never felt the need to try a different brand. Until I moved to Germany that is, and realised that there are no shops that sell Batiste (oh, the disgrace...). The only way of getting it is by ordering it online and even then you can only get the smaller cans where p&p costs twice as much as the actual product. I spent half an eternity hunting for another dry shampoo that you can buy in an actual shop which doesn't just exist on the screen and this was the ONLY one I could get hold of - so it had to do.

Trockenshampoo ist eines jener Dinge, die zum Nachdenken anregen, wie ich es eigentlich jemals geschafft habe, ohne sie zu überleben. Es ist unersetzlich, wenn man einen Pony hat, der schlapp macht, während der Rest des Haares noch in Ordnung ist. Alles, was mir eine extra halbe Stunde im Bett verspricht, hat in meinen Augen schon gewonnen.
Ich habe eigentlich nur Batiste ausprobiert (und eine Firma aus der Apotheke, aber über dieses Ereignis wollen wir nicht mehr sprechen). Es funktionierte gut, es war günstig und so hatte ich nie das Bedürfnis, eine andere Firma auszuprobieren. Bis ich wieder nach Deutschland zog und merkte, dass man Batiste in den Läden nicht kriegen kann (oh, die Schande...). Man kriegt es lediglich übers Internet, aber auch dort sind nur die kleinen Dosen erhältlich und der Versand kostet doppelt so viel wie das eigentliche Produkt. Ich habe also eine halbe Ewigkeit damit verbracht, nach einem anderen Trockenshampoo zu jagen, das es auch in einem richtigen Geschäft (welches nicht nur auf einem Bildschirm existiert) gibt und dies war das EINZIGE, das ich finden konnte - also musste es her.

Can we just speak of the packaging first? I know some may think it's a bit of a silly topic, because it fulfills its purpose, so surely there's nothing more to it? Well, to me packaging is still fairly important, as stupid as that may sound and with this one... let's just say that if it wasn't for the fact that there WAS no other dry shampoo to be found anywhere, I never would have given it a second glance. I mean, I get the whole rockin-it connection, the I'm-so-rock-n-roll-I'm-too-cool-slash-hungover-to-wash-my-hair thing... but the metal tin combined with the tribal bit on the side and the Ed-Hardy-esque heart at the bottom just screams tacky. Rock'n'roll is something else entirely....

Können wir bitte zuerst über die Verpackung reden? Ich weiß, dass es Leute gibt, die meinen, das sei ein albernes Thema. Sie erfüllt ihren Zweck, also was gibt's da noch zu diskutieren? Nun, für mich ist Verpackung halt auch wichtig, so dumm das auch klingen mag und diese hier... sagen wir einfach, dass ich sie keines zweiten Blickes gewürdigt hätte, wäre da nicht die Tatsache, dass es kein anderes Trockenshampoo gab. Ich verstehe ja diese rockige Verbindung, das Ich-bin-so-Rock-n-Roll-dass-ich-viel-zu-cool-und-verkatert-bin-um-mir-die-Haare-zu-waschen-Ding, das hier vor sich geht... aber diese nackte Alu-Verpackung gepaart mit dem Tribal-Logo an der Seite und dem Ed-Hardy-esquem Herz ganz unten schreit einfach nur billig und geschmacklos. Rock'n'Roll ist was ganz anderes....

Disgusting packaging aside, this is to be used just like any other dry shampoo. You spray it onto your roots in short bursts, then rub it in, leave it to work a little bit and brush the rest out of your hair. The scent of this is actually quite nice and fruity. I couldn't tell you what kind of fruit I'm smelling, but it's definitely a pleasant scent which is by no means overpowering.

Mal von der widerlichen Verpackung abgesehen, funktioniert dieses Produkt ganz wie jedes andere Trockenshampoo. Man sprüht es in kurzen Stößen auf den Haaransatz, massiert es ein, lässt es ein bisschen allein, damit es wirken kann und bürstet dann den Rest aus. Der Geruch ist ganz nett und fruchtig. Ich kann euch nicht sagen, welche Frucht ich da rieche, aber es ist ein angenehmes Aroma, das auch nicht zu stark ist.

I have dark hair, so dry shampoo could always be a bit of an issue, as the white powder residue it leaves dulls my hair colour. There have also been instances where I've been in a rush and erm... missed a spot, only to be running around with a white patch in my hair - not a good look! With this one, though, I have got to admit that it seems to sink in a lot better than Batiste. It only takes a fraction of the time to rub it in and when I brush out what's left my hair brush comes out pretty much clean. The results are the same still - excess grease is absorbed and my hair gets a nice boost of volume. No nasty itchyness or "dirty" feeling at all!

Ich habe dunkle Haare, also kann es mit Trockenshampoo schon manchmal Probleme geben, da das weiße Puder meine Haare etwas stumpf erscheinen lässt. Es gab auch schon mal Vorfälle, wo ich es sehr eilig hatte und... äh, ne Stelle übersehen habe und dann mit weißen Flecken im Haar herumgelaufen bin - kein guter Look! Hierbei muss ich schon zugeben, dass das Trockenshampoo viel besser einzieht als das von Batiste. Es dauert nur einen Bruchteil der Zeit, bis es einmassiert ist und wenn ich dann die Restbestände ausbürste ist meine Haarbürste praktisch sauber. Die Resultate sind trotzdem gleich - überschüssiges Fett wird absorbiert und meine Haare kriegen einen schönen Volumenschub. Kein Jucken und kein Gefühl, dass da was in den Haaren ist, was dort nich hingehört!



Overall a decent product and the price of £4.07 for 200ml isn't too bad either. The disgraceful packaging means I'm hiding it as far at the back of my dresser (read: odd shelf which is sort of near a mirror) as possible and I am a bit annoyed that it was the only one I could find. If I have to repurchase it, then fine, but I'm certainly on the lookout for a different one once I run out of this. I heard Garnier just brought out a new dry shampoo.... Alles in allem ein ordentliches Produkt und der Preis von 5,99€ ist zwar etwas steil, aber jetzt auch nicht die Riesenkatastrophe. Für die Verpackung sollten sich Got2b schämen und ich sorge immer dafür, dass man die Dose nicht auf meinem Regal sieht. Es nervt schon ein bisschen, dass ich kein anderes Trockenshampoo finden konnte. Müsste ich mir dieses noch einmal kaufen, dann ist es auch kein Weltuntergang, aber ich suche in der Zwischenzeit vorsichtshalber schon mal nach einem Neuen. Ich hab gehört, dass Garnier jetzt auch eins herausgebracht hat. Solltet ihr an diesem Produkt interessiert sein, so könnt ihr es in Deutschland über Rossman hier bestellen.

I love... mango & papaya body butter review

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like as soon as the sun comes out you want to smell like a fruit salad or some kind of tropical cocktail that gets served with a paper umbrella, a slice of pineapple and a glacé cherry? Now, my heart firmly belongs to Body Shop Body Butters, but even I have to admit that in the summer months they can be a tad too rich meaning they leave a sticky layer on the skin which eventually mixes with sweat - YUM!

Bin ich es nur, oder merkt ihr auch, dass man sobald die Sonne etwas scheint plötzlich wie ein Obstsalat riechen möchte, oder wie ein tropischer Cocktail, der mit Papierschirmchen, einer Ananasscheibe und kandierter Kirsche serviert wird? Mein Herz schlägt zwar immer noch für die Body Butters von The Body Shop, doch selbst ich muss eingestehen, dass sie in den Sommermonaten etwas zu reichhaltig sein können. Das heißt sie hinterlassen einen klebrigen Film auf der Haut, der sich schließlich mit Schweiß vermischt - LECKER!

Der Stand von I love... zog mich im Geschäft magisch an, wegen der bunten Farben und der leckeren Namen. Ich shoppe nunmal wie ein Profi.

The scent of this is heavenly. Fruity, sweet and gorgeous without being sickly in the least - at least in my opinion. On me the scent doesn't last quite as long as some other body products I've tried. About half an hour after showering it's pretty much gone - great if you don't want it to interfere with your perfume, but not so great if you want to smell like mango and papaya. I guess you could try layering it with the shower gel and other products from the same range if you wanted the scent to linger for a bit longer.

Der Geruch dieser Body Butter ist himmlisch. Fruchtig, süß und wunderschön, ohne Würgreiz zu erzeugen - meiner Meinung nach, zumindest. Der Geruch bleibt an meiner Haut nicht ganz so lange haften wie andere Produkte. Etwa eine halbe Stunde nach dem Duschen riecht man wieder nichts mehr. Das ist toll, wenn man nicht möchte, dass sich der Geruch mit dem Parfum beißt, aber nicht so toll wenn man nach Mango und Papaya duften möchte. Man könnte vielleicht versuchen, den Geruch mit Duschgel und anderen Produkten aus der Reihe aufzubauen, damit er etwas länger hält.

The texture of this is lovely for the warmer months. It's soft, easy to grab and very fluffy. Think low-fat whipped spread rather than actual butter. For that reason it's very easily spreadable and sinks in quickly without leaving any nasty residue.

Die Konsistenz ist für die wärmeren Monate sehr toll. Sie ist weich, leicht aufzunehmen und sehr... fluffig. Eher gewhippte Diät-Margarine als tatsächliche Butter. Aus diesem Grund lässt sie sich sehr leicht verteilen und zieht schnell ein, ohne einen ekligen Film zu hinterlassen.

This product left my skin feeling nice and moisturised, as it's supposed to. I usually shower in the evenings (I already have to get up at 5am as it is, I'm NOT adding an extra hour to shower before work!!) and the next morning my skin still feels velvety soft. I'm not so sure how it would fare on rough winter knees and elbows, as it's just not that moisturising, but for normal skin without any dry patches, or for the warmer months of the year this is just fabulous.

Das Produkt fühlte sich sehr feuchtigkeitsspendend an, wie es auch sein sollte. Ich dusche normalerweise abends (Ich muss auch so schon täglich um fünf aufstehen, ich häng da jetzt nicht noch ne Stunde dran, um zu duschen!!) und am nächsten Morgen fühlt sich meine Haut immer noch samtig weich an. Ich bin mir nicht so sicher, wie sie mit aufgerauten Winterknien und -ellbogen zurechtkäme, da sie jetzt nicht so reichhaltig ist, aber für normale Haut ohne trockene Stellen, oder für die wärmer Zeit des Jahres ist sie einfach wunderbar.

And the best thing? This costs £2.05 in Superdrug. Bargain if you ask me!
